It has been great to get our first week of Junior Cricket matches underway and to start the season off with a win for the U15’s. It’s always great to welcome parents, supporters and opposition teams along to our club and be able to share our beautiful ground and facilities.
There are plenty of matches across the coming weeks as well as Softball (Kwik) Tournaments so please do make your child available for as many matches as possible. We know that it can be a juggle with other clubs, work and other siblings etc so thank you! We really do appreciate your support. We look forward to bringing you more match reports over the coming weeks.
U15’s v Dedham Sunday 3 May 2026
Copford U15 began their season by winning the toss and choosing to bat first.
An aggressive start from Harry and Victor saw them to 50 in 3 overs. Harry retired before Victor went on to make 49. A steady loss of wickets saw Harry return to eventually make 76 in taking the score to 179 all out in 19.4 overs.
Dedham lost regular wickets with Lucas and Oscar taking 2 each and Harry, Zayn, Alex and Will taking 1 each. Dedham were all out for 54 in 15.1 overs to give Copford a 125 run win.
U11’s vs Witham Monday 4 May 2026
We had our first game of the season at home, with Anthony having the honours of captaining the team. We lost the toss and were put into bat.
With plenty of good calling, we started to build runs and made it to the 10th over before losing our first wicket. Some strong bowling from Witham took a further three wickets in the last four overs, but great shot selection from Rueben—playing up a year in his first ever hard ball game—saw him hit three 4s and helped us set a reasonable score of 263.
We then took to the field, with Anthony positioning his teammates well and providing plenty of encouragement. The bowling was tight, and in the early overs we restricted the runs. In the 5th over, Jack took two wickets and followed it up with a third in the 7th. The good bowling and fielding continued, with further wickets from Aidan and Rueben. Unfortunately, Witham managed to increase the run rate in the final overs and finished on 279, meaning we lost by 16 runs.
It was a great team effort and everybody played their part. Thank you to Witham for an enjoyable game—we look forward to the return fixture
